  1. Florence/Tuscany/Luca/ Pisa 2013

Once again I am in love. Tuscany is so beautiful and looks like a painting. The rolling hills and beautiful vineyards are incredible to look at and all the houses are so rustic and medieval looking. Our villa is perfect as well and we have a pool!! It is an infinity pool with a beautiful view of rolling hills and another villa miles away framed by olive trees. Every home is miles apart so you feel like you are in your own world. I don’t know personally if I could live this far away from civilization, but I definitely could have a vacation home here.
Florence has probably been my favorite place so far! It has so much history in it and it is beautiful. The gardens were so amazing except I definitely got a workout from hiking up to the top, but it was worth it to see that view. Then we went to lunch in this little sandwich shop and the owner was so nice! I think that is why I like this city so much because people are very nice. We also went to the Uffizi and I saw The Birth of Venus and La Primavera by Botticelli. It was so cool to see those paintings because I recently learned about them in my Survey of Art class. And they’re also some of my favorite paintings. We also learned about the Duomo, which we climbed to the top of, so that was cool knowing the history behind it before I came to Italy.
The other cities we visited were Luca and Pisa. Luca was a cute little city, and we really got to see the city by renting bikes and riding around. That was really exciting to experience the city that way, because we have mostly been walking or riding on a bus. The leaning tower of Pisa was so incredible! I have always seen pictures of it, but actually seeing it in person was great because I could see how much it was really leaning. Walking up it was a crazy sensation and I felt as if I had vertigo the whole time.
I loved our free days in Tuscany and Sienna because I really just got to take in the beauty of Italy and truly enjoy it. Lying out by the pool and taking it all in was so relaxing and peaceful. I loved it here. Yet at the same time I am also excited to go home and have the convenience of bathrooms and water everywhere and also proper water pressure in my shower. Other than that I love everything!

  2. Florence/Tuscany:

When we finally arrived to our villa in Tuscany and my mind was literally blown away by the beauty of the vineyard and the house itself. The villa is tucked away from the road and surrounded by fields of grapes and in the front yard there is an infinity pool looking over the vineyard. In other words this place is amazing.
The next couple days we ventured into Florence to view the amazing churches and the museums of the area, which hold some of the largest amount of Renaissance art in Italy. Florence may be one of the most amazing cities in Italy and I have decided that one day I am going to move to Italy and live in this city for some amount of time. One of the places that we visited that stuck with me the most was the Pitti Palace, not only because it is an amazing piece of architecture and the gardens behind it are amazing, but also because, in a way, it was the place where the Renaissance was born.
Another event that we did in Florence that I loved was going to see the statue of David. Michelangelo was a visionary of his time and created a piece of art that inspired so many people. The detail and enormity of this piece of art work blew my mind and inspired me as an artist to go beyond the conventional ways of performing and explore new ways of singing and acting.
After Florence we went to visit the city of Luca and ride bikes around the ramparts that enclose part of the city. The reason why this is such a big deal is because most cities in Italy tore down the ramparts that enclosed it to expand the city and not have it be in the way. However, this city left it up and built around it so as you ride around it on your bike you can not only see the older city inside the walls but also the newer city outside the walls. This bike ride was by far one of my favorite parts of this trip. In other words this trip really just keeps getting better and better.
