Florence, oh Florence.
Personally, I think Florence is just one of the most interesting parts because there is so much to see and do and not even a week could cover what Florence has to offer.  Based on the first day alone, one of the most fun things to do was when Ali, Kerry, and I went to a Dali exhibit after going to the Uffizi Gallery.  I was actually surprised by how small the sculptures were in comparison to my original thought of things being large and tall.  Of course, some were actually like that but overall, I was equally surprised that the exhibit was small.  It was well worth going into though because how often can you go into Florence and an exhibit is going on that you want to see and you have time to go?  It’s kind of like the “best of both worlds” state of mind, but a lot more interesting because it just happened to be going on at the time we were there.  In direct contrast to that, Tuscany here at the Villa has been absolutely wonderful.  There have been a few days were it’s nice to just take a bus into Florence and figure out what to do as a small group (Dali) or a big group with everyone and climb up the Duomo in Florence and live to tell the tale.  Here at the Villa, I have never felt more like at home like I did at the farm back with Paul and Marie in Gerardmer.  It is beautiful to not be around a large city and just see nature unfold itself around us and just engulf us with natural beauty.  It’s even amazing to just wake up every morning and eat fresh tortes and various kinds of cakes from our own Italian Grandma for the week (insert here name here that I can never remember…).  The change of scenery is also nice to just see the vineyard from all angles and just soak in every moment.  Similar to today and two days ago (today being about Thursday 5/23) when we just have time to relax here and enjoy the sun out by the pool and just be with everyone in peace and out of the city’s reach.  Granted, some people (if not all of us) have been having at least one or two off-days because there has been a little sick-bug going around that should really be squashed sometime soon.  But I feel more at peace with everyone on this trip because there’s so few of us and it’s so easy just to talk and hang out with new and difference friends every day and feel accepted by everyone as if we are a large family. :)
